Screenplay Proofreading
Screenwriters sometimes skip hiring a professional proofreader to save time and money. Unfortunately, spotting typos, spelling, and formatting problems in your own script is difficult. Your brain fills in and fixes any issues before you really notice them.
When a screenplay is full of typos, it is more likely to receive negative feedback and end up in the trash. I can give your script that final professional polish so that it stands a better chance of being seen and being rated positively.
My screenplay proofreading rate is $2.00 per page.
I prefer to see the full script before taking on proofreading projects. I can also do a sample proofread of 5 pages (in screenplay format).
What does proofreading do for your screenplay?
- Catches typos & extra or missing spaces
- Finds spelling, punctuation, and capitalization errors & inconsistencies*
- Fixes minor formatting issues*
- Final Draft, WriterDuet, or PDFs in Adobe Acrobat Pro
Proofreading should be the last check of your script. It is not:
— Improving sentence structure, action description, or dialogue
— Ensuring proper screenplay format
— Finding redundancies and repetition
*I use The Screenwriter’s Bible, The Chicago Manual of Style, and the Merriam-Webster Collegiate Dictionary as proofreading resources.
I prefer to work on PDFs or Final Draft (FDX) files but am open to finding other solutions when that isn’t possible.
